In a near future Massive Multiplayer Online Playing Game have been brought to the next level: players are now controlling real humans in the real world! That's the premise of Gamer (previously titled Game then Citizen Game), an upcoming sci-fi action thriller movie written and directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (the two geniuses behind Crank). Gerard Butler has got the lead role as an unwilling participant in an online game in which participants can control human beings as players. Also starring in the movie: Logan Lerman, Milo Ventimiglia (the guy from Heroes), Aaron Yoo, Ludacris, Alison Lohman and John Leguizamo. This looks like a hell of action! The movie Gamer I bet will appeal not only to player hordes but also to a larger public. The central theme of Gamer raises issues that we must not wait to debate because we are likely to deal with them in a near future: the pace of technology progress is such that the mind-control gizmo from Gamer isn't so farfetched....
